Download PDFHosting a clothing swap is a great way to give clothes more life and keep them out of landfills. Start out by inviting your network: friends, family, co-workers neighbors - invite them to participate in a clothes swap, where everyone brings clothes they no longer want. 6 people is a good goal for your first event.
Choose your location, date and time and share that information via email, text, social media, or even print fliers for your invited guests. Remind the group leading up to the event to bring clothes that are still in good repair that they no longer wear, enjoy, or want (leave out things that are stained/dirty).
Make space for clothes! Keep the area clean and encourage attendees to keep things orderly so that items are easily viewable. If you can, include a private space for people to try on clothes. Snacks and drinks never hurt - but nothing too messy. Taking the excess clothes for donations at the end makes the experience as easy as can be for everyone.
Share photos of the event to help spread the word for future swaps! Ask the attendees for feedback as there is always room to improve: Was there a missing size from the available items? Would they return for another swap? Do they have friends that might be interested in joining? The goal is to make clothing swaps a regular occurrence!
